On May 11th, the Latin Business Chronicle announced that Panama had become the best country in Latin America to do business, beating out 18 other countries in the region. The criteria included Macro, Corporate and Political Environments, Globalization, Competitiveness and Technology Levels. Panama beat everyone on Competitiveness and Globalization, and placed no lower than fifth in the other criteria.
Joachim Bamrud, the Editor-in-Chief of the LBC spoke to 133 members and guests of AmCham at noon on June 9th at the Panama Marriott Hotel, going into more detail on the criteria used in determining Panama as the best, and those issues that needed to be addressed to maintain its position in coming years..
